Shape the Future of Law with Us!

If our firm could be associated by name with one thing, it would be providing an excellent client experience. Second to that, would be attracting top talent. A family law firm is only as good as its people. That is why we have created a workplace intended to appeal to great lawyers who are also great people. Ours is not a club that is easy to get into.

Among us, we have Law Review editors, Supreme Court victors, former court officials, and legislative committee appointees. We also have a rock band singer, a former employee of the Secret Service, and an Instagram-famous dog parent. Our people are interesting. They are bold change-makers both in and out of the courtroom—and our clients are the ultimate beneficiaries of their fearlessness and flair.

As employees, our attorneys and staff enjoy an uncommon level of autonomy and client responsibility while overseeing tangible results that immediately impact families. As people—as spouses and parents and partners and friends—they enjoy an enviable work-life balance that enables them to be the best at what they do—both at work, and at home.

David Quote

From our Managing Partner David Iancu

Impactful Work

Impactful Work

At Karp & Iancu, we don’t just practice law—we make the law! Several of our attorneys have had substantial roles in shaping new family law legislation and landmark Supreme Court case law. Our lawyers look beyond the courtroom for ways to make an impact and can help you find the right opportunities for your aspirations.

With Wisconsin’s only dedicated family law appellate practice group and a thriving mediation/arbitration practice, our lawyers can work outside the box of traditional litigation to build skills, relationships, and reputations.

No Book of Business? No Problem

Many law firms practice an “eat what you kill” philosophy, where each attorney is responsible for generating their own client base and revenue. Our firm is different. We are fortunate to have the resources, respect, and reputation to generate enough work for our attorneys—even if they don’t actively “make rain.” So, if you are concerned about making a lateral move because you don’t have a clientele to bring with you—that’s okay. You might still be a perfect fit! If you DO have a loyal client base and if you do enjoy business-building—even better. We reward those things handsomely.

Merger

Mergers

If you are a small law practice who wants to avoid the headaches of running a business while still enjoying the best parts of practicing law, let’s talk!

A note from Gregg Bridge on his merger with Karp & Iancu

Untitled design (58).png

I merged my solo practice of law with Karp & Iancu in September of 2022.  I wasn’t looking for a change but was intrigued when Attorney David Iancu approached me.  I had had cases with most of the lawyers in the firm and my experiences working with them had been very favorable.  I thought about the opportunity long and hard because it meant a major change in the way I had been practicing law for over 20 years.  There was comfort in clinging to what I was accustomed to in my day to day.

Ultimately, I made the decision to merge and my only regret is that I didn’t have this opportunity 10 years ago!   Professionally, I am no longer an isolated island in a small law office.  I work every day in a dynamic environment where the sharing of ideas, teamwork and professional excellence are embraced as the norm.

By merging my practice with Karp & Iancu, rather than “rusting away” and becoming less relevant as a senior attorney, I now have the daily opportunity to share ideas and practice advice with our team.    I also enjoy the many interactions I have with younger attorneys who are eager to learn as they become excellent professionals in their own right.   It is invigorating both personally and professionally to be part of all that positive energy and to feel welcomed literally every day in a firm having over 20 attorneys.

In addition,  I no longer have to deal with firm administration, employees, payroll or succession planning.  All of my time is now focused on the practice of law.  Karp & Iancu handles the rest.

Two years post-merger, I honestly can’t imagine being anywhere else.  It’s a great feeling to be part of something bigger that inspires all of us on the K &I team to be the best attorneys we can be.

Culture

Our firm culture is second to none. From weekly lawyer Roundtables to our internal satirical newsletter, we work hard and play hard to great effect. Quarterly meetings give all team members information and access to the firm’s financial, business, and production goals and progress toward them.

Quarterly social events—such as an outing to the Wisconsin State Fair or afternoon playing Whirlyball—are popular teambuilding opportunities. We end the year with a spare-no-expense holiday party at a penthouse dining room where attendees can win coveted prizes such as a weekend getaway or (most popular!) the opportunity to bring their dog to work.
